Catch 'N' Cook Seafood & Burger Bar - Charters Towers: Reviews & Ratings
Ordered the mackerel burger with 1/2 scoop of chips.... absolutely amazing. Serving size was huge. Thick slab of fish inside the batter, fresh salad and soft bun. Fair price for the size.
The way a fish and chip shop used to be. This place is authentic and so good. I had an amazing fish burger and the best chips. Washed down with a locally made (I think) Sarsaparilla.
catch and cook has some of the best cheese chips and gravy i’ve ever had. they are always perfect and i find their gravy amazing. they have a great snack and dinner menu as well. though sometimes the wait can a a fair while. they have seating both inside and outside which is great for eating in as well.
Food was over and above expectations. Large qualities of salad and chips and the barramundi took up half the plate. It tasted fresh and smelt amazing. Needs more table and chairs outside, but just my opinion.
I am very fussy with my food and am a burger connoisseur. I try new places everywhere and it can be a real hit and a miss somtimes.. This place has the best hamburgers around!! Haven't had one this good from as long as I can remember. Been here 3 times so it's not a fluke. I add pineapple and bacon to mine. Couldn't fault a thing! Perfect I've tried another burger in charters which wasn't too bad, but was a bought paddy.. which i reckon are rubbish. These guys have delicious home made paddies. There chips are great too! Great old fashioned friendly service. Come check it out and see if there as good as i say!
Awesome fish burger, that's all I had, lovely lady made it how I wanted
After reading the reviews we decided it was our place for tea.... Busy as the staff were flat out yet had time to smile ...50 minutes wait! Yes it was worth it. The grilled red emperor was moist and tasty plus a generous serve of crunchy beer batter chips. My hamburger with the lot was very filling with salad, caramelized onions and a very tasty homemade hamburger We also tried the soft drinks that is made in Charters Towers and we hadn't seen anywhere else.
Tried the place for a healthier burger than Maccas. Really nice homemade burgers. Shop run by an older lady whom takes pride in homemade quality. Have bought food from here more than once now.

Nestled in the heart of Charters Towers at 162 Gill Street, Catch 'N' Cook Seafood & Burger Bar serves as a shining beacon for lovers of classic fish and chips with a fresh, homemade twist. This local gem expertly balances tradition and quality, delivering hearty portions that leave a lasting impression.
The standout dish, undoubtedly, is their crumbed mackerel—generous, flaky, and perfectly battered, as praised by customers like Travis Rhodes, who raved about the “thick slab of fish” tucked inside a soft bun with fresh salad. This commitment to freshness and flavor elevates the fish burger beyond the typical takeaway fare. The burgers here carry a genuine homemade charm, boasting patty craftsmanship that burger connoisseurs like Chris Jones find hard to match in the region. Add-ons such as crispy bacon and pineapple only deepen the layers of taste, proving the kitchen’s dedication to customization and satisfaction.
Beyond seafood, the chips at Catch 'N' Cook are no afterthought. With crispy, golden exteriors and fluffy interiors, these chips come highly recommended, especially when paired with the richly savory cheese chips and signature gravy praised by Kianna Edwards. This comfort food duo speaks to the bar's mastery of classic Australian pub-style accompaniments, providing both familiar comforts and gourmet flair.
Atmosphere-wise, the bar maintains an authentic fish-and-chip-shop vibe, enhanced by friendly, old-fashioned customer service that invites patrons to linger. While the seating can sometimes be limited—something Kathleen Davis noted—the blend of indoor and outdoor dining caters to a relaxed, community-oriented experience. The thoughtful inclusion of local beverages like a refreshing Sarsaparilla adds a unique regional touch that complements the hearty menu.
Catch 'N' Cook Seafood & Burger Bar is more than a meal stop; it’s a destination for those craving genuine, robust seafood and burger offerings. Each dish reflects pride in quality ingredients, generous portions, and that unmistakable home-cooked flavor that defines truly great comfort food. Whether it's a quick snack or a leisurely dinner, this Charters Towers eatery consistently over-delivers on taste, value, and authenticity.
